and pursue their career passions. Position Overview: We are seeking
a results-driven and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to oversee
the procurement operations within our heavy industrial
organization. This role is responsible for managing supplier
relationships, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery of
materials, and driving cost savings without compromising quality or
operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong background
in industrial procurement, supply chain optimization, and vendor
management. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage
purchasing strategies that align with company objectives and
production schedules. Source and evaluate vendors for industrial
equipment, raw materials, tools, and MRO (maintenance, repair, and
operations) supplies. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with
suppliers to ensure optimal value and performance. Maintain
accurate procurement records, inventory levels, and material
forecasts to support production and project timelines. Collaborate
with engineering, production, and finance teams to ensure material
specifications and budgets are met. Monitor supplier performance
and address issues related to quality, lead times, and compliance.
Ensure adherence to company purchasing policies and procedures, as
well as applicable regulatory requirements. Analyze market trends
and develop contingency plans for material shortages, price
volatility, and supply chain disruptions. Identify and drive cost
reduction initiatives, process improvements, and vendor
consolidation opportunities. Lead, train, and mentor purchasing
staff to enhance departmental performance and capabilities.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain
Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent
work experience). 4 years of purchasing or supply chain experience
in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong
negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word,
Outlook). Excellent communication, organization, and leadership
abilities. Knowledge of industrial-grade equipment, steel
fabrication components, and service parts preferred. Preferred
Qualifications: CPM, CPSM, or APICS certification a plus.
Experience with ISO or other quality management systems.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) inventory
