Officer (CAO) directs the development and implementation of the
school's academic program Preschool through 12th grade. The CAO
provides leadership to the pedagogy, curriculum, and professional
development for Redlands Christian Schools. The CAO is responsible
for the school's achievement of the Schoolwide Learner
Outcomes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Chief Academic
Officer include the following:(Other duties may be
assigned.)Curriculum:
- Oversees design and implementation of a quality PS-12
curricular program
- Leads the curriculum review cycle
- Ensures robust biblical worldview integration in RCS classes
including training faculty in the development of a biblical
worldview.
- Develop a scope and sequence document that succinctly captures
the school's curriculum building from the mission and vision of the
school and appropriate standards.
- Oversees documentation of the curriculumFaculty:
- Assists principals in identifying, recruiting and hiring
qualified faculty.
- Visits classrooms and assesses teacher performance particularly
in terms of pedagogy, curriculum fulfillment and student
engagement.
- Plans and implements a comprehensive faculty development
program in conjunction with the administration to include:
professional education coursework and/or readings, vocational
training, in-services, mentoring, and attendance at seminars and
conventions.
- Implements the school's new faculty orientation program as well
as the new teacher mentoring program.
- Oversees teachers in induction programs.
- Manages the implementation of the professional development
funds for teachers.Learning:
- Oversees and makes sense of the analysis of RCS learning data
(standardized testing and classroom data) and provides direction on
how the school/teacher can improve.
- Reviews grades, grading procedures, lesson plans, RenWeb,
progress reports, etc.Schedules:
- Provides input on class scheduling with the goal of maximizing
student learning towards the achievement of the school's academic
goals.Special Events:
- Attend and sometimes present at key annual events:
- Back to School Nights
- Awards events
- Open House eventsVision:
- Oversees the implementation of the PS-12 academic vision for
Redlands Christian Schools as it relates to the overall philosophy,
goals, and objectives of the schoolBudget:
- Makes decisions reflective of budget realities, particularly in
terms of the provision of curricular resources.
- Lead the school's Title II process (application, funding and
disbursement)Education and/or Experience:Master's degree (MS or MS)
from and five or more years of experience in education.
Administrative credential preferred. Experience as an administrator
is preferred.Qualifications
